Press Release:

Fifth Annual National Chainsaw Sculpting Invitational in downtown Hackensack, September 25, 26 & 27, 2009

The City of Hackensack along with Hackensack Lions Club, Hackensack American Legion, Post 202, Hackensack Legion Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion and the Hackensack Chamber of Commerce are excited to host the Fifth Annual National Chainsaw Sculpting Invitational in downtown Hackensack as part of Fall Has it All Festival September 25-27, 2009.

As in the past, the City will host professional chainsaw carvers during the three day celebration in downtown Hackensack.  We are pleased to announce R.D. Coonrod will bring the LogHoggers to Hackensack along with a few choice guest carvers.

Carvings will take place Friday, Saturday & Sunday ending with a live auction late Sunday afternoon.  Be sure to grab your free program booklet when you pay your gate fee.  You will not want to miss the various activities happening over the weekend, not to mention the money saving coupons for local businesses!

As the festival continues to grow, so does the guest list!  We are excited to have world-renowned realistic carver Jeff Phares as a guest at the Fall Has it All Festival.  Jeff will be available to answer questions regarding hand carving.  Additionally, Hackensack is the first location he will have his latest book, Carving Human Faces II available for purchase with the opportunity for photos and signatures.

Bring the whole family for a day of enjoyment in downtown Hackensack.  Stroll through the artist village, food court or relax on the bleachers and watch in amazement as our carving artists transform logs into sculptures.   Parking is free; there will be reserved spaces for special needs for parking as well as reserved special needs seating on the bleachers.

As in the past, proceed from the 2009 Invitational, beyond expenses, will go to the following non-profit groups to support their charitable activities in the greater Hackensack area: The City of Hackensack, Hackensack Lions Club, Hackensack American Legion, Post 202, Hackensack Legion Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion and the Hackensack Chamber of Commerce.
